Making dreams come true:
This is the true story of Kajal and how she hopes to live her dream. She wants to be an engineer but girls like Kajal poor and lacking support systems don’t get to see their dreams turn true. Kajal lives in the Sangam Vihar slum of South Delhi, home to approximately 400000 people. it is here that WWHI runs its school for the girl child our small attempt to give girls an understanding of education beyond the formal. Kajal knows that to get admission in an Engineering college needs dedication, hard work and importantly extra coaching, to beat the tough competition. She has the first two but the coaching was beyond her family's means.It seemed the end of the road for Kajal and her ambitions. Soon she was going to join the legions of girls who have to live amidst grinding poverty and thwarted aspirations. But luckily for Kajal, her mother approached WWHI to help Kajal pursue a career that would fill her life with hope and promise. WWHI also hoped to make Kajal the perfect role model for other girls from the area with the motto : Education, Hope & Happiness are Possible. And so we connected Annika Harenstam, a professor at Gotenborg University in far away Sweden to Kajal. Annika is collaborating with WWHI over a gender project, and now she is taking her philosophy forward by supporting Kajal’s education. Together, they are working to make dreams come true.
